Exclusively brought to you by the Rural Services Network

Dear Marie

This week’s Bulletin puts focus on the Final Local Government Finance Settlement and the questions it raises for rural services. Significant concerns remain about funding fairness, the treatment of rural costs and the growing gap in government-funded spending power between rural and urban councils. In this week’s Bulletin, we set out the key questions that remain unanswered for rural services, alongside coverage of the Parliamentary debate on the final settlement, where MPs from across the House raised concerns about the impact on rural councils and communities.

Looking ahead, our next RSN Member-Exclusive Seminar takes place next week, with a focus on Rural Connectivity. Members can find details of the speakers and discussion themes, and book their place, in this article.

We are currently recruiting a Rural Evidence Analyst to strengthen our evidence and analysis work. Applications close this Friday, and we encourage anyone interested to apply or share the opportunity more widely. Find out more here.

As always, thank you for reading and for your continued engagement as we work to ensure rural communities have a strong voice in policy, funding and reform.
